Eye Exams at La Roca & Embassy Tour

Today we had eye exams for the kids and families at La Roca! It was such a fun morning ... the kids were very excited to get to have their eyes tested. We had a group of students come with the eye doctor ... they were great with the kids! Here are some of our favorite shots from the morning :)

Waiting to begin our morning

Being so patient :)

Last part of the eye exam!

Not everyone was so excited about the whole eye exam thing - little Sarai was not a happy camper! You can see her progressively getting more and more upset!

Standing outside of the door - refusing to go in
so I had to go get Jonny (her brother) :)

Jonny trying to talk her into it

Finally got her to go inside

Showing her that it was just a light!

No words needed :)

Jonny showing her that it could be like a game :)

She finally did it - after bribing her with candy :)

Here she is with her paper and candy! YAY :)
It was a great morning at La Roca - we feel so grateful to be able to be a part in providing this service to the La Roca families. What a blessing for them -- but also for us!

After our morning at La Roca, we went to the US Embassy and had tour with Colonel Bob Swisher.

We had a great afternoon touring the Embassy - full of fun stories and laughs. Here are the only two pictures that we were allowed to take - so enjoy :)

Outreach at Public High School

On Monday, July 16th, we went to a local high school in the city to do some outreach.

We had a great time ministering to the students and sharing how the Lord has done great works in our lives. Here are some pictures of our time there!

Started with some singing :)

Then a little break dancing :)

response to invitation - simply amazing

So grateful to be able to witness things like this - just amazing to see the response to the Gospel and the individual stories of how the Lord has made all things new!

We serve such an AWESOME God!

City Dump

On Wednesday, July 11th, we spent the day at the City Dump in Tegucigalpa.  We started the day by heading to La Roca - where we prepared spaghetti to take to feed the people in the dump.  We put spaghetti, rice, tortillas and a fork on a plate and wrapped it in plastic. We ended up with 247 plates of spaghetti to pass out!

wrapped plates for the dump!

When the food was ready - we hit the road! There were seven of us today that went to the dump to feed and minister. The car ride there was fun - all stuffed in together! :)

Before we passed out the food, Daniel was able to share the gospel with the people in line while Aben translated for him! It was amazing to see how attentive they were - they were soaking in their words!

"En el nombre de Jesus"
(In the name of Jesus)

We feel blessed and so very grateful to be able to be the hands, feet, and love of Jesus to the people at the City Dump.  Please join us in praying for them - most importantly that they would come to have a saving knowledge of who Jesus is and make him the Lord of their lives!

Orphanage Outreach

On Friday, July 6th, we were able to go to a local orphanage here in Tegucigalpa.

We took water balloons, balloon animals, pinatas, face paint, and games to share with the kids while we were there. Here are some pictures of our time with the older kids!

Sharing the Gospel with an EvangeCube

This was one of the hardest parts of our day - three of the 14 year old girls at the orphanage escaped while we were there. They jumped up on the roof and left. When we talked to the director, she told us that once they leave, they can not return to the orphanage.

Please pray for these 3 girls who are now faced with living in the streets.

We had a great afternoon of ministry with the kids at the orphanage.  We pray that we were able to give them a glimpse of the love of Jesus.  Please join us in praying that these children are able to be placed in forever homes and given the HOPE that comes only through knowing Jesus.
